Students of all ages gathered this August 2008 afternoon
in the re-created Salt Springs One-Room Schoolhouse
for reading, writing, and 'rithmatic lessons conducted by
Mistress Sara Doane.

Letters were first practiced on slates.

And then at the chalkboard.

Reading was practiced in front of the group.
(Although some students were reprimanded for bad posture,
this young man was not.)

For craft time, students made thaumotropes. This young lady tested her reading skills
with the directions.

The day ended with some students, like these, playing a game of Hide the Slipper.
Others played hopscotch.
